I am a 5th and final year pharmacy student in University. I am doing research for my master’s degree on natural or seminatural sourced ascorbic acid dietary supplements. I analyzed one of your products, Vivasan Acerola tablets, for ascorbic acid content by using European Pharmacopoeia HPLC method.
The results are as follows:
Vivasan Acerola 60 tablets (batch number: 0791930101; best before: 02/2014). Vitamin C 100 mg per tablet (as labeled) considered as 100%.
9 samples, average vitamin C content per tablet 104.3% = 104.3 mg, standard deviation 9.9.
What I would like to know for my research:
- what form(s) of vitamin C does the supplement contain (e.g. L-ascorbic acid, ascorbates etc)?
- Is all of the vitamin C in the supplement extracted from plants or fruits (e.g. citruses, acerola, rosehips, blackcurrant), therefore being natural sourced or does it (also) contain synthetically obtained vitamin C? How much of the vitamin C is natural sourced and/or how much is synthetically obtained?
The supplement obtained from the Vivasan label claiming vitamin C content per tablet being 60 mg. I also informed the distributer of this. The label in English states 100 mg per tablet which I used as the content.
This is an impartial research. I am looking forward to your reply and thank you in advance
Thank you for your mail
To your question regarding Acerola Vivasan:

2) Acerola Vivasan сontains only vitamin C from acerola, doen’t contain artificial vitamin C.
Acerola content is 86% pr tablet, 60-120 mg pr. tablet C – vit.
- Acerola fruit powder – (Malpighia punicifolia), 420,000 mg pr tabl., SCA standard , controlled by High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
